If you suffer from acid reflux, this would be a great option for you! Bananas and Avocados are good foods for acid reflux – so I put them in a smoothie!
How to make:
In a blender add…
- 8 oz of Coconut Milk or your choice of non-dairy milk*
- 1 Banana (preferably organic)
- 1/2 cup frozen Avocado (can be purchased at store or made at home**)
- 1/2 Carrot or 1 whole depending on size of Carrot (you won’t want too much)
- 1/2 stalk of Kale – or- 1 oz (separating the leaf from the stalk)
- 1 tsp ground Cinnamon (or to taste)
- 1 tsp ground Ginger
- 1-2 tbsp Black Chia Seeds
For additional fiber, you can also add 1/4 cup of Oats to the blend.
Benefits
The Smooth Green Smoothie is an easy blend that is not too harsh for your stomach, isn’t too sweet and is full of fiber, nutrients, and protein. The Black Chia Seeds add a dose of Omega-3 that is good for all sorts of things including depression, ADHD in children, fight heart disease and can improve eye health. The Ginger is also good for digestion and acts as an anti-inflammatory along with Cinnamon that can also help with blood sugar levels.

*Dairy, though smooth and known for it’s calcium, is actually high in acidity. This can go against what you are trying to achieve if you want strong bones or lower stomach acid production.
**Frozen Avocados can be store-bought, but they can also be made at home by cutting them into small chunks, placing them in a zip-lock back and storing them in the freezer. Another great storage method (which I’ve tested myself) is to put whole Avocados in a container of water and store in the fridge. I’ve had my Avocados last for over a month using this method!
